Cyma Zarghami is this year’s recipient of the SRQ Magazine’s Women Who Roar Trailblazer Award. As the former President of Nickelodeon and CEO of MIMO Studios, Zarghami has made a name for herself in the world of children’s television and franchise development.
A 33-year Nickelodeon veteran, Zarghami built some of the biggest children’s franchises like SpongeBob SquarePants, iCarly and PAW Patrol. Her biggest crowning achievement – taking SpongeBob to Broadway.
After leaving Nickelodeon in 2018, Zarghami realized that she never actually put projects together and brought them to the marketplace – she just oversaw all of it. So she decided to start her own company and do just that.
MIMO Studios launched in 2020 with a vision to create a pipeline of animated and live action content for kids. It’s larger mission: to provide a happy refuge for today’s kids and birth the next generation of hit franchises.
Zarghami believes MIMO is poised to win because of the team she’s built and the company’s innovative approach. She explains how the streaming services have disrupted the way that kids are consuming content and that there’s a new set of tools for developing franchises.
Zarghami continues to share the benefits of having her own company, the lessons she learned throughout her career and support she received from female executives, and the importance of family and a more balanced life.
With MIMO, Zarghami has found a perfect outlet for her experience, passion and talents. Happy at the helm of MIMO, she’s excited for the possibilities on the horizon while having fun along the way.
